The right amount of sharp offers
In general, you can bring goods other than spirits and tobacco products for private consumption in the quantities you wish, free of tax. As of 1 January 2004, the quantities of tobacco and spirits have changed:
If you can document that the purchased goods are for your own consumption, the following quantities apply for Denmark and Sweden. The quantities below are indicative. If you are in doubt or need more information, please check the following websites:
- for Denmark: www.skat.dk

Tobacco products:
- 800 cigarettes or
- 400 pieces of cheroots or
- 200 cigars or
- 1 kg of smoking tobacco
Spirits, wine and beer:
- Spirits over 22% = 10 litres
- Wine = 90 litres
- Beer = 110 litres
Special rules apply to Norway, as Norway is not a member of the EU:
Tobacco products:
200 cigarettes or 250 g of cigarette products and 200 cigarette papers
Spirits, wine and beer:
- Spirits over 22% = 1 litre
- Wine between 2.5 to 22% = 1.5 litres
- Beer over 2.5% = 2 litres
If you do not import cigarettes into Norway, you can import an extra 1.5 litres of beer or wine from 01 July 2014.
Age requirements for duty-free import:
- You must be 17 years old to import spirits and tobacco into Denmark.
- You must be 18 years old to import tobacco into Sweden and 20 years old to import spirits.
- You must be 18 years old to import wine, beer and tobacco into Norway and 20 years old for spirits over 22%.
