Festive winter cocktails: Mr Scandi's recipe ideas for your Christmas party

Christmas is also the season for cosy gatherings: with family, friends and even colleagues to toast the season. If you're not in the mood for mulled wine and hot chocolate, we'd like to suggest a few cocktails that can make your Christmas anticipation even greater!

Non-alcoholic spicy indulgence: Christmas Time Mocktail

Ingredients for two drinks
25 cl milk
15 cl peach juice
2 tbsp white chocolate syrup
1 tbsp gingerbread syrup
Cinnamon sticks for garnish

Preparation

1. Place all ingredients in a cocktail shaker, fill with ice cubes and shake well.
2. Pour mocktails into two glasses, garnish with a cinnamon stick and serve.

The first is this sweet mocktail called Christmas Time. Just because you prefer to abstain from alcohol or might be driving doesn't mean you have to do without elaborately prepared cold drinks. The next drink, Christmas Punch, is also fruity, but with a special flavour.

Our biggest wish? A Christmas Punch

Ingredients for two drinks
6 cl rum
25 cl ginger ale
4 cl cherry juice
2 cl cranberry juice
1 tsp cane sugar syrup
4 slices ginger
1 tsp allspice

Preparation

1. Pour all ingredients except ginger ale into a shaker, fill with ice cubes and shake well.
2. Pour through a sieve into two glasses, top up with ginger ale and serve.

The two juices give Christmas Punch a sweet sensation, while the ginger ale, fresh ginger and spice give it a pleasant sharpness. You'll find a large selection of high-quality rums in your ScandiPark. You can add special flavours with golden or dark rum or emphasise the spiciness of the cocktail with Spiced Rum. If you prefer a creamy-sweet drink to a fruity-spicy one, you'll like the next two suggestions!

Silky smooth: Baileys Flat White Martini

Ingredients for two drinks
10 cl Baileys
4 cl vodka
6 cl espresso
Coffee beans for garnish

Preparation

1. Make two cups of espresso and let them cool completely.
2. Pour all ingredients into a shaker, fill with ice cubes and shake well.
3. Pour cocktails into two martini glasses, garnish with coffee beans and serve.

Chocolatey and creamy, yet with a strong coffee flavour, the Baileys Flat White Martini not only inspires anticipation, but also leaves you wanting more. If your winter drink can't be creamy enough, put a pot on the stove for the following American classic.

The Christmas classic from the USA: Egg Nog

Ingredients for two drinks
6 cl rum or whiskey
25 cl milk
5 cl cream
2 tbsp sugar
2 egg yolks
1 vanilla pod
A pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg

Preparation

1. Heat the contents of the vanilla pod with the milk, cream, a pinch of cinnamon and nutmeg in a saucepan without boiling.
2. Whisk the egg yolks in a bowl until creamy and slowly add sugar until dissolved.
3. Slowly pour the contents of the saucepan into the whipped egg yolks and stir until smooth.
4Pour the entire contents of the bowl back into the pan and heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens.
5. Finally, stir in the rum or whisky, pour into two cups, garnish with cinnamon and nutmeg, and serve hot.

Whether you use rum or whisky, this hot drink is the perfect companion for cold winter evenings. And as always, you'll find a great selection of the best brands of the spirits you need in the recipes at your ScandiPark Handewitt. We wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and hope that our delicious cocktail recipes will make the cold season a little sweeter!
